General
Do I have to register ?
Registration is optional. All visitors (registered or not) are welcome to respond to the public
questionnaires and read the public boards. Registered members may submit their own
questionnaires, send and receive private messages to each other, and may also submit comments on
the public boards. Please note that some questionnaires are open only to members (subject to the
publisher's decision).
Is this service aimed only at students ?
Not at all. Everybody is welcome to use our services for social and political polls, marketing
research, customer satisfaction, employee appraisal etc.
Technical
Why do I get an error that my browser is not compatible ?
Our site makes use of advanced web technologies such as
AJAX
and
XML
transformations. These technologies are supported by modern browsers. The site was tested to
be fully supported on the following browsers:
Please make sure that your browser is configured to enable Javascript and cookies.
Do questionnaires remain open for responses indefinitely ?
No, all questionnaires are automatically closed after some time of inactivity or after the
program terminates. Once a questionnaire is closed - the final results report is calculated. If
you wish to
keep your questionnaire open even if inactive, or close it even if active, or re-open a closed
questionnaire, please
contact us
.
Is there any temporary result report before the questionnaire is closed ?
Yes, there is. The result reports and raw-data files are generated periodically in cycles which
duration ranges from few minutes to few hours (depends on the questionnaire length, and the
amount of new responses since last report was produced). The reports indicate the number of
observations used for calculation. That number may be slightly lower than the actual number of
responders so far. Once the questionnaire is closed a final report is produced. Final reports
are based on all responses.
The questionnaire is closed already, but final results does not exist yet, why?
The result reports are generated periodically (not immediately after each response). If the
questionnaire is already closed it is currently queued for calculation. Please check again
within few hours (usually a few minutes will do).
Why do I get an error message saying that my questionnaire is archived or does not exist ?
The questionnaires are kept for a few months after they are closed. After that time they are
archived/backed up and cannot be accessed online. We may consider restoring an archived
questionnaire upon request from its publisher.
Are there any limitations for the questionnaire length ?
Actually there are, though most users are not likely to reach them in common usage. The
limitations are for the amount of questions, the amount of items/choices per question, overall
amount of items/choices throughout the whole questionnaire and length of the questions/items
text. Users that for some reason wish to bypass these limitations please
contact us
and we shall consider more permissive length constraints specifically for their questionnaire.
How many questionnaires can I publish ?
Each user may have up to 3 open questionnaires at a time. More questionnaires can be posted only
once one of the previous questionnaires is concluded, so no more than 3 questionnaires of the
same user are active concurrently.
Can I order a custom-made questionnaires ?
If you have special requirements that our system currently does not support (for example, a
certain question type or structure) you may
contact us
and describe what you need. We will estimate the technical implications and send you a quotation
and further information. If you have an example of the desired questionnaire in a file (such as
DOC or PDF) please send it as well - it will help us to estimate the project more accurately.
I have a document file or a hard copy of an existing questionnaire - can you type it in for me
into the system ?
Please
send
it to us and we will give you a quotation. If the questionnaire is in a hard copy please scan it
first to a JPG or TIFF file.
Privacy
Is the privacy of the responders kept ?
Definitely. Our system does not publish any uniquely identifying information (such as IP
addresses) or attach any such information to the responses, so no one can relate the
responses to the responder identity, including the publisher of the questionnaire. Yet,
responders should be cautious with any uniquely identifying information they voluntarily
provide.
If the publisher sends a private invitations to a potential responders' mailbox, the
publisher may know who are the responders that accepted the invitations in a dedicated list
(separated from the results report) but the email addresses are
not
attached to the responses, and the results report is based only on answers explicitly given
in the questionnaire form.
How can I be extra cautious to make sure that my privacy will not be violated ?
Please note that sometime an individual may be identified by his/her specific answers. For
example, suppose the HR department conducts an employee satisfaction survey, and one of the
questions is age related, and there is only a single employee in the organization at a certain
age. His/her answers can be identified by those who are aware to this information. Participants
should be cautious with any uniquely identifying information they voluntarily provide.
Is there an option to conduct a survey where the results will be kept visible only to the
publisher ?
We allow to keep the results report hidden until the questionnaire is closed. The publisher may
make sure that the responders are not biased by the existing report. Once the questionnaire is
closed and final results are calculated they become available to all users. Premium
questionnaire's reports may be kept hidden even once the questionnaire is closed.
Statistics
Which statistics are supported ?
We currently support: Simple distributions, Crosstabulations, Mean, Median, Standard-deviation,
Kurtosis, Skewness, Chi-square, T-Test, Anova, Spearman's correlations, Pearson's correlations
and more.
I'm not a statistician, I don't understand parts of the report
Don't worry, you are not alone. Most users don't understand it all. The report may appear in a
"standard" mode or in an "advanced" mode. For most business regular needs the "standard" report
is enough. The "advanced" report is for academic usage and contains data that is not relevant to
most users.
How do you choose which statistics to calculate ?
The statistics are calculated based on the question type (ie, nominal, ordinal, interval).
Please note that the statistics are calculated automatically without understanding the meaning
of the questions, so not all calculated statistics are relevant in all cases.
Does the results report makes the usage of statistical software redundant ?
That depends on your research purpose and hypothesis. The results report includes many
statistics, yet it may lack specific calculations needed for your research. In such a case you
may download the raw data for further analysis using your favorite software.
Can I have access to the raw data for further analysis ?
Once the questionnaire is closed and final results are calculated, raw data is also
available in a
CSV
format. If the file contains non-English characters it is encoded using
UTF-8
. The
CSV
format can be used with common softwares
-
Statistical software: SPSS, SAS
m.i.
, STATISTICA, EViews
m.i.
etc.
-
Spreadsheet software: MS-Excel
m.i.
, OpenOffice
m.i.
etc.
-
Mathematical software: MATLAB, Octave
